Josef Gulas Jr. is the 2021 WSOPE Main Event Champion!

Josef Gulas Jr., a 24 years old local player from the Czech Republic, started as the chip leader on the final day of the 2021 WSOP Europe Main Event and eventually won the Main Event and with it a coveted WSOP Gold Bracelet and € 1,276,712.

He won a €10,350 WSOPE Main Event ticket by playing a €250 buy-in tournament at King’s, which lead him to the Main Event and the ultimate victory of his poker career.

The event had 688 Entries with a prize pool of € 6,536,000, setting a new all-time record for a WSOP Europe Main Event.

His father Josef Gulas is also a successful poker player with live tournament earnings of more than €700,000.

I am standing now with the winner of the 2021 WSOP Europe ME, Josef Gulas Jr. What are the first feelings after winning such a huge and record-breaking event?

“Thank you very much it’s an incredible feeling, I am truly thankful and happy.”

How was the road during the festival? Did you play just the Main Event, or did you participate also in other tournaments?

“I only played the WSOPE Opener and played cash game in the meantime waiting for my chance at the Main Event. It was a perfect tournament with a very nice structure in the best casino in Europe. Just incredible!”

Thank you very much we try to make the structures as best as possible. What is the difference between playing on such a final table that is broadcasted all over the world instead of playing on a regular table? What is that feeling for you?

“It is something incredible, I would wish it to everyone, everyone should participate and play in such circumstances to feel the atmosphere and the FEEL of the final table.”

You had the chance and the luck to win a ticket to this Main Event from a local King’s tournament that had a buy-in of 250€, I believe you placed third or second on that tournament. This 250€ resulted in you winning over € 1,250,000. What do you feel and what do you want to do with the money?

“That is correct I have received a ticket in a tournament where I placed 3rd and where the entrance was 250€ and I won 37,000€ and a ticket to Main Event. Nonetheless, I knew that there were a lot of qualifiers in this tournament and I would pay the buy-in regardless.”

Thank you for having players like you in King’s Casino. The last showdown was for you a difference between a win of € 700,000 or € 1,200,000. That is an enormous difference, a life-changing difference I would in fact say. What is the feeling at that moment of the last showdown when you are waiting for that crucial river and it comes the card that you need?

“It’s incredible, amazing, can’t describe, everyone should go through it to understand. Huge amounts of adrenaline.”

Now the last question, what are you going to do with the win?

“That’s a good question, I am pretty sure I will build myself a house and use the rest to make more and more money.”
